Zenvia Customer Cloud provides tools to ensure your messages are delivered correctly and your contact list remains up to date.
Below are best practices for handling phone numbers and email addresses.
Best Practices for Phone Numbers
1. Enter the correct country code
- All phone numbers should follow the format: +Country Code Area Code Phone Number (no dashes, spaces, or dots).
- The full number (including country code, area code, and local number) must have between 8 and 16 characters.
Examples:
Brazil: +55 (11) 98765-4321
Argentina: 54911 1234-5678 (include the digit 9 between the country and area code)
In practice, it works like this:
Scenario | Behavior |
When adding a new contact | In the contact form, select the country code from the specific field. Alternatively, you can type + followed by the country code to open the options. |
When editing an existing contact | If a saved contact has less than 8 or more than 16 characters, it will be flagged for review. You’ll need to correct the phone number to match the proper format: Country Code + Area Code + Phone Number, with 8 to 16 characters total. |
2. Use the contact validator
- Go to Contacts > Invalid Contacts to use the contact validator and correct any errors in registered phone numbers or email addresses.
3. Enable international SMS sending
- To ensure SMS messages are delivered to international numbers, activate international sending under Settings > Channels.
4. Validate country codes when configuring WhatsApp or RCS messages
- During message configuration, validate the country codes in the second step of the process.
- Select the countries you want to send messages to by checking the appropriate boxes.
5. Use the most common country codes
Below are some of the most common country codes used to validate numbers correctly:
- Argentina: +54
- Bolivia: +591
- Brazil: +55
- Chile: +56
- Colombia: +57
- Ecuador: +593
- Paraguay: +595
- Peru: +51
- Uruguay: +598
- Venezuela: +58
Best Practices for Email Addresses
Maintain Standard Formatting
Ensure that addresses follow the standard format: [email protected].
Avoid Special Characters
Ensure the email does not contain special characters like !, #, $, %, &. Use only dots (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-) in permitted sections. Also, keep the email in lowercase and avoid unnecessary dots in the username, as some platforms may treat them differently.
Insert a Valid Domain
Confirm that the domain (the part after the @) is a valid and registered domain. Use DNS verification tools to ensure the domain has MX (Mail Exchange) records configured, indicating it can receive emails.
